Joyland Amusement Park page 2
Joyland is also home to the very first ever produced C.P. Huntington Train made by Chance Manufacturing in Wichita. Notice the #1 on the side.
Each train is numbered when they are built. Joyland also has one of only 2 remaining Wurlitzer military band organs left in the world, and the only one on public display.
This is an original Dodgem building with removable doors and mirrored walls...a classic ride.
Next to the Dodgems is the classic dark ride, Whacky Shack, designed originally by Bill Tracey but has had some modifications over the years.
Here is one of the last rooms before the exit.
Joyland is home to a number of classic Hershel children's rides also.
LogJam is Joyland's flume ride. This was built by O.D. Hopkins.
Once the park flooded and a few of the flume boats were swept down the river. One was found over a year later.
The flume ends with a nice drop next to the picnic groves.
The splashdown.
We had the flume refurbished when we were attempting to purchase the park.
After the refurbishment.
The ride looks great now.
Here are a few of the picnic pavilions in the shaded grove next to the LogJam.
These picnic pavilions are surrounded by huge oak trees and is one reason so many people like to have company gatherings at Joyland.
This suspension bridge takes you back over to the midway, behind the old Western town area.
